A low-growing, mat-forming perennial sub-shrub native to Europe, western Asia, and North Africa. It is primarily grown as an ornamental ground cover for its aromatic, small, oval leaves and profuse, tiny pink to purple flowers that bloom in summer. The plant is hardy, drought-tolerant, and can handle some foot traffic, making it ideal for rock gardens, between paving stones, or as an edging plant.
