A showy, 2–3 inch diameter, thistle-like flowers with a deeply fringed ring of rose-pink to rosy-purple outer petals surrounding a paler, sometimes white, center. They are excellent for cutting, either fresh or for drying. An upright, mounding plant that typically grows to 18–36 inches (45–90 cm) tall and 12–36 inches (30–90 cm) wide. Flowers appear from late spring through mid-to-late summer, deadheading spent blooms can encourage a second flush of flowers.
