A herbaceous perennial known for its striking variegated foliage and late spring to summer flowers. It features a compact, mounding form with fern-like leaves that are green with prominent golden-yellow markings and splashes. Above the foliage, it produces a profusion of lilac-purple, star-shaped flowers.  Grows to be a compact mound, typically 6–12 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide.
